I feel short.

Boo-hiss. These crazy hippies up here don't wear heels!

Don't kid yourself - I still wear mine on occasion (because of course to leave them hidden away in the back of a closet would be nothing short of pure blasphemy) but have decided to join the crowds on occasion and get some (gasp!) flats. Not only do I have to get no-heeled non-sandal shoes, but it's very European up here so no light colored shoes allowed. Jenkies. So off to target I went (you see I'm a big spender now that I'm a softie) to get me some boring short shoes. What before my bright eyes do appear? Not just black, blue, and pink chucks...but CAMO CHUCKS!! Darn straight I got 'em! So no worries you southerners - I'm representing the dirty south even when up north. They may bend me but I will not be broken!

Speaking of turning granola, I turned another real corner this morning...besides officially being in town for a month and one day, I ventured on to mass transit for the first time. (Not the public bus yet but that will come next... baby steps needed for this Marta-traumatized Atlantan!) Today it was the company shuttle that is offered free of charge - complete with a charter-type bus equipped with wi-fi and a straight shot to campus. So up I wake this morning, put on my new camo shoes, my white jean jacket (which by the way is rebellious in and of itself in a sea of black coats swimming through the city), my laptop bag with zune in pocket and ear buds in ears to walk/bus to work. So Seattle! Well with one major difference - I sported a diet coke in hand instead of the uber-common starbucks cup. Just as I said - I'll bend but some items will always stay Erika!! (even if this Erika is 3.5 inches shorter....)

Gasp is right! You are the most anti-flats person I know! I love the Chucks though and am glad you are venturing out (atleast once a week).

Wow! The world is going to look so much better through the eyes of happy puppies even if it is from a lower perspective! The white jean jacket will reflect the suns' rays where black absorbs them. That is the only reason I can figure out for the sea of black. Welcome to granolaland!

Yea comfy shoes! I hate heals. I wore sandals with a heel two days in a row and now my plantars fasciitis has come back. So today, I'm wearing comfy, not so fashionable, sneakers with insoles. But I do agree, the heels look nicer. But maybe there you can find fashionable flats, which are hard to find in ATL.

Camo shoes, you rock! Your oldest brother likes the way you refer to the local as "crazy hippies"!!!

Jenn it's funny you should mention your love for comfies - I actually went on a mad hunt up here for shoes just like yours - you remember the brown/black sneaks that I saw you wearing when I came to visit Emily?? I was trying to find them b/c they're the only sneaks that I've really liked that fit in up here... I tried but the pair I got I hate of course - thank goodness I found the camos!!

This may be a bit late, but Target ALSO has silver sparkly Chucks, too...I've seen them and I've been coveting them.

LOVE the blog, so glad that the address was passed along so that we can enjoy it!
