Hello my Blogience! (that's my clever name for you out there in web land reading this - get it? my blog audience. somehow "fan club" seemed slightly narcissistic, even for a Crawford)
I finally gave up on perfecting the picture slide show and adding music in the background - at least for now... in the meantime I think I've posted what I have so far to the left. I had to create a youtube account and post it there (yikes!!) but that's the only way I could do so without lots of trouble figuring out another way... So yes, I have a youtube account, but no, I'm not a perv or weirdo who posts random videos of me dancing to 80's music or performing stupid stunts, I PROMISE!
So as for Sunny Seattle, it actually got up to 70 on Saturday - it was absolutely beautiful! I had an old friend from Hewitt in town for a few days and we were able to do the touristy stuff on the most beautiful day I've had out here. The views from the needle were amazing: Rainier was as clear as the building next door and Pike Place Market was buzzing with activity and the most beautiful (and cheap!) flower arrangements and produce... One might even say it was a little slice of heaven (and by one, I mean my mom of course).
The only down side to the day was returning to the non-AC apartment that afternoon - it turns out the window method of cooling only works if there are breezes outside, and even then the breeze can't compete with the wall of sun shining in around every corner (I know I should close the blinds but I can't bear to block out the views)! It got so bad that even in shorts and a t-shirt I was sweating (not unusual, I know) so finally I dug deep in the closet to drag out the ghettoesque fan that was left by the temp housing folks. I know you all have visions of window units, ceiling fans, or even something that oscillates dancing in your head, but 'twas no such luck...not even close. Instead think back about 25 years ago to the oh-so-pricey beige plastic box fans that sit on the floor, sound as loud as a diesel F350, but produce little more air than flapping a piece of paper in front of your face: yeah, that's the one. [Sidebar: for those of you who were lucky - dare I say blessed - enough to know me and my bros as little kids, it is the same fan that we used to sit behind and talk into pretending we were airline pilots. I can hear it now: "this is the captain speaking...we have reached 30 million feet travelling at 5 miles per hour. if you look to your left you will see the washington monument and to your right the mississippi river...." (give us a break, we were just little kids! we didn't know how fast and high planes really flew nor had we learned our geography lessons yet...but flash forward 10 years and my german exchange student and I DID learn that even though the plane is landing in autopilot, you still need to operate the brakes yourself, else you'll end up in the potomac river - turns out THAT is the river in DC...stupid flight simulators (or shall I say "Flight Stimulator" like Jake used to say???)] But I digress....yes, that is the crappy fan I was reduced to and needless to say Clay and I are narrowing our apartment search to air conditioning units only!
Ok, back to work now.... KIT! :)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pictures!!!I can just see you sitting in your window seat, feeling a clarity of mind and unbridled spirit soaring as never before! THANK YOU for visiting my favorite market. Just wait till the local berries and cherries come in! My mouth is watering just thinking of them. I do believe Delta's flight simulator will never be the same!! Thanks for the giggle of reminding me of the mechanical Fan Speak!! All the power and success I might have missed by being a stay at home mom pales to the joy, pride and fun I had staying home with you Kids. Thanks for reminding me of those happiest of times!
I love and miss you,
Mom
PS Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
I love you,
Mom
I had a little accident. You said F350. Trucks are hot!
