Had SUCH a fab-tab day yesterday. I finally have a friend up here!! :) A co-worker came downtown yesterday to see my apartment and do dinner - we had such a great time. First of all he approves of the apartment and was super impressed at the location, views, etc. (and even the price) which was good to hear from a local. We then just started walking downtown and ended up at pike place to just shop around - we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day - slight breeze, around 70 degrees, sun shining and not a drop of rain in sight (although it did snow again on friday evening but nothing stuck). The food looked so fantastic at the market we actually ended up buying EVERYTHING for dinner there (2 kinds of handmade flavored pasta, fresh organic produce, fresh baked sourdough, and a delicious sun-dried tomato olive oil for bread dipping), and mom I finally bought my huge, beautiful, and way cheap bouquet of fresh flowers!! It was so super fabulous. We then stopped to get some wine on the way home and found pike place label wine! It was fate - we simply had to get it to finish off the meal. Back at the apartment I started to fix it for us, but it turns out his dad is a chef and he actually knew what he was doing unlike me so I even had dinner fixed for me! To top it all off it turns out we like a lot of the same music and shows on dvd as well so I have a music/tv buddy now too! (don't worry folks, before the rumor mill begins, I'm not his type without going through some major reassignment surgery...)
This all probably seems minor to you all but for a girl who hasn't had a local friend in a month it is the most exciting thing since the treasure hunt for black bean burgers....

Yea! I'm so glad you have a buddy! I can't wait to meet him! I knew there was something there when you told me he complimented your hair on your first day :) Pike place sounds awesome. Your post made me hungry, not to mention jealous of all that fresh goodness so close to you.

Ditto what Rosie said!! I can just see the wonderful colors of the produce, smell the fresh bread and flowers. A real feast for the senses!! That makes cooking really fun and easy!All of that sunshine and a brisk chill in the air too! How I love it!!! So thrilled you do too! Give Joe our best. If you like him he must be great!
